I am a fourth-generation painter who works primarily in oils. My art often employs bold colors and fractured light compositions in an attempt to challenge my viewer and their interpretation of the natural world. I aim at pushing their memory to interplay with their love of the landscape. My palette draws from the colors of nature directly. Dark soil and shadow lay next to bright, geometric chunks of light. I have been told that my compositions linger with my viewers over time and that my marks have accompanied them on their daily walks in the woods. Nature grabbed onto my heart long ago and is why it plays such a central role in my imagery. Everyone experiences nature differently. The marks, slices of light and fragmented composition in my paintings give room for the viewer to step inside and experience it for themselves.
Thank you, Sharon
